Sri Lanka

We arrived yesterday morning in Colombo, the capital city.  We quickly hired a driver to take us to the second largest city in Sri Lanka, Kandy.  Situated on a lake, Kandy is a busy city, full of tuk tuks, temples, cars, buses, tourists, locals and stray dogs.  It is beautiful, green and lush.

We are staying at a very nice guest house called, The Amanda Hills.  It is very pleasant with a lovely manager who goes out of his way to ensure guest happiness and satisfaction.

Today, we met a tuk tuk driver named, Indi.  He took us to a few spots.  I'll upload more pictures when I get back to Amman.  It is difficult to do on the iPad or I haven't figured it out yet.  One of the stops was at the Amaya Hills resort.  If you have money, this would be a lovely spot to stay at.  It over looks Kandy and has amazing views!!!

After a wonderful few days relaxing in Kandy, we are now staying at an amazing guesthouse in Bentota called The Sri Lankashire guest house.  We are hosted by a wonderful family who go above and beyond expectations.  This is truly a remarkable experience!  Last night, we were part of an annual festival where a parade of elephants travel from temple to temple with a band of dancers, fire poi and drummers.  Robert and I were among a group of 6 other tourists and the rest of the observers were local villagers.  It was neat to be part of this festival.  We felt very privileged.  I love our life!!
